We’re an international, human-centred extracurricular space for recreation and academics that bring together learning, creativity, and community.
Espaço Aberto was born from a deep sense of gratitude to the local community. It was created by Ivan Mutovin, a lawyer and 24.02.2022 immigrant from Russia, who — together with his family — was warmly welcomed to Cascais. Arriving in search of a peaceful environment, he founded the project to foster humane coexistence and uphold a commitment to rejecting all forms of war and violence.
Most importantly, it is our professors and teachers who bring the space to life, building the academic depth and recreational spirit that define what we do.
Our mission is to create a cosy, welcoming space where curiosity has no limits and everyone is invited to explore. A place where children, teens, and adults can learn, connect, and leave each day a little more inspired than they came.

Our Space
FAQ
Espaço Aberto is a cultural and educational space in central Cascais for classes, workshops, talks, events and community programs. We host our own activities and also rent rooms to independent teachers, facilitators, organisations and event organisers.
Yes. We offer recurring room rental for teachers and facilitators running regular classes, courses and small-group programs in Cascais. Our spaces can be used for language classes, tutoring, creative workshops, discussion groups, yoga, movement, gymnastics, rehearsals and other educational or community activities.
Yes. Our rooms can be booked for one-off workshops, lectures, masterclasses, meetings, rehearsals and ticketed or private events. Depending on the format, you can book an individual room or the full space.
We have two main bookable rooms:
- The Library — a smaller room for individual work and small groups. It comfortably accommodates up to 8 people and can host around 10–12 people in lecture-style seating
- The Big Auditorium — a larger flexible room suitable for group classes, yoga and movement, workshops, lectures, performances, concerts and events
Yes. We offer medium- and long-term rental for fixed weekly time slots. Recurring bookings are available for teachers, clubs, schools, facilitators and other organisations looking for a regular space in Cascais.
Yes. Weekday mornings and afternoons are available for recurring and one-off bookings. Daytime rental can work particularly well for yoga or movement classes, language groups, parent-and-child activities, homeschool groups, creative workshops, meetings and private sessions.
Yes. With our Rental model, you manage your own participants, payments, communication and program, while Espaço Aberto provides the space.
Yes. For selected group programs, we offer a Partnership model in which Espaço Aberto can manage registrations, payments, administration and agreed promotion while the teacher or facilitator focuses on the program and teaching.
Partnership is intended for group programs. Individual lessons, consultations and one-to-one sessions are always offered under our Rental model.

Yes. For selected public events with ticket sales, we offer Event Production. This may include the venue, event page and ticketing setup, basic promotion and organisational support. Additional technical equipment, décor or special production requirements are agreed separately.
Yes. We are open to talks, lectures, masterclasses and short programs with specialists from Portugal and abroad. Depending on the project, Espaço Aberto may act as the venue, local partner or program producer.
Not yet as a regular program, but we are interested in developing Summer, Christmas and other school-break camps with future partners. If you already run a camp program or have an idea you would like to develop with us, we would be happy to discuss it.
No. Espaço Aberto hosts programs for children, teenagers and adults. Current activities include educational, creative, cultural, movement and community formats.
Yes. Our spaces can be rented for individual work, small team sessions, meetings or coworking-style use, depending on the room and group size. You can book a space for yourself or for a small group of colleagues.
We are in central Cascais at Travessa Visconde da Luz 28C, within walking distance of Cascais town centre.
Send us the type of activity, preferred date and time, expected group size and whether you need a one-off or recurring booking. We will recommend the most suitable room and collaboration format.
